Top 5 Places to See in Iceland
I have spent 4 days in the land of fire and ice and I loved every single minute of it! It’s so hard to decide which place I liked the most because every single piece of Icelandic land is unique and gorgeous.
I’ll do my best and name my top 5 favorite places below:
The beauty of this place is just beyond imagination! I remember, when I was a little girl, watching TV documentaries about glaciers and thinking how awesome it would be to see one. Well, I saw one and it was more beautiful than I could ever imagine.
I drove from Reykjavik and even if it was a 5 hours drive, it was worth it! Check out the photo below to see what I’m talking about.
Vik black sand beach
Seeing a black sand beach was a dream of mine for a long time. Although it was winter and the waves were about 4 m tall, Vik is a must see. Also, don’t miss the basalt columns!
About half an hour by bus from Reykjavik, you can find an oasis with milky hot water, where you can relax after a day full of sightseeing. Even though you are traveling to Iceland during winter, do not forget to bring your swim suit!
There are so many waterfalls in Iceland but I think that my favorite one is Skogafoss. Although it is not the biggest one, it has it’s own charm and beauty.
I know you will be tempted to spend less time Reykjavik and more seeing the wonders of Iceland but the capital is actually a beautiful and unique city which deserves a full day to visit. You can visit the Hallgrímskirkja, and the beautiful streets in the city centre (full of expensive things) or even visit the Open Air Museum where you will get the chance to see traditional Icelandic homes.
Did you have any doubt about seeing Iceland? Well, I hope now you don’t! Iceland will make you want to move there!
